ABSTRACT

The performance of a car, when not just looking at the output of power or torque of the engine, is best measured as the time to complete an assigned task while accelerating on the road. The usual task is either to accelerate to a certain speed, or to run a distance as fast as possible. This paper describes with the theory and function of vehicle performance measurement using inertial navigation sensors (three-axial accelrometer). The motivation for the project is the ever increasing interest for this technology by enthusiast who race and tune cars professionally, or as a hobby.The Prototype in this project have been made with a microcontroller for data acquisition and communication data to the PC. This system can be developed with a wireless radio data communication.
